I’m giving up on WordPress … for me anyway.

After years of working with WordPress for my personal website, I’m giving up.

Let me explain …

In 2008 I started with a simple blog on wordpress.com. I wrote a few blog posts, but was never satisfied with the look, functionality, widgets, etc. Thus I started my never ending journey to build the perfect blog/website, so I could have the perfect home for my thoughts (aka blogging).

In an effort to master the platform I got off wordpress.com and moved my site to my own hosted WordPress website to gain full control. I learned how to code, design for the web, deal with hosts/DNS, set up custom emails, and implement the best plugins after experimenting with hundreds of them. Over time I have been locked out of sites, hacked, ripped off by web hosts, hacked again, and suffered hours of frustration of not understanding code.

I became a web designer, digital marketer, and WordPress ninja … by procrastination.

I wanted to blog, but writing/producing content is hard! I did other productive things until my website was perfect loaded with tons of crap I didn’t need. I never did get it to the place I wanted it to be and I don’t think I ever will.

Don’t misunderstand me though. WordPress is the best CMS you can find! If you need to get the most our of your website for social, SEO, and conversion optimization, it is a must. It also turned into a lucrative career for me, so I have no regrets.

For my own website though, I’m going back to the simpler hosted wordpress.com version and upgrading to the premium package. It costs about as much a web host anyway!

It’s time to get to back to blogging.

Less optimizing, more writing.

Less fiddling, more producing.

The premium package and effort is all you need to blog on this platform. Wish you the best! 🙂
